 Hi.......hope this helps
Adonis=mythically Adonis represents the cycle of death and resurrection in winter and spring.  He is identified with the baylonion god Tammuz.
Adonis  in Greek mythology, beautiful youth beloved by Aphrodite and Persephone. He was born of the incestuous union of Myrrha (or Smyrna) and Cinyras, king of Cyprus. Aphrodite left Adonis in the care of Persephone, who raised him and made him her lover. Aphrodite later demanded the youth for herself, but Persephone was unwilling to relinquish him. When Adonis was gored to death by a boar, both Persephone and Aphrodite claimed him. Zeus settled the dispute by arranging for Adonis to spend half the year (the summer months) above the ground with Aphrodite and the other half in the underworld with Persephone. Adonis' death and resurrection, symbolic of the yearly cycle of vegetation, were widely celebrated in ancient Greece in the midsummer festival Adonia. The worship of Adonis corresponds to the cults of the Phrygian Attis and the Babylonian Tammuz.

Tammuz, Mesopotamian god of fertility. He was the son of Enki, god of water, and Duttur, a personification of the ewe. Worship of Tammuz was centered around two yearly festivals, one in the early spring in which his marriage to the goddess Inanna symbolized the fertilization of nature for the coming year, and one in summer when his death at the hands of demons was lamented. He is thought to be the precursor of several later deities associated with agriculture and fertility, including Ninsun, Damu, and Dumuzi-Abzu

Thank you for that information, but i went a bit deeper in that Suzi said that the king of swords/arrows is Adonis in the tarot and although the description of the card has a lot of similarities to a certain person that has been on my mind of late i went a bit deeper into Venus and Adonis.
Your blood shall be changed into a flower; that consolation none can envy me." Thus speaking, she sprinkled nectar on the blood; and as they mingled, bubbles rose as in a pool on which raindrops fall, and in an hour's time there sprang up a flower of bloody hue like that of a pomegranate.
That is a part from Shakespeare in regards to Venus and Adonis, and so be it i picked 4 pomegranates from my friends tree last night, all with beautiful blood red seeds in side (i love them and always have) but then Venus was actually his mother..the saga continues

Hi Tash, in my book, Adonis is stated as being " The only man capable of breaking Venus's heart"
Also, Cupid is the son of Venus, not Adonis, as far as i am aware. Adonis didn't really get to do much before he was killed poor fellow, lol, and i think his only claim to fame is how much Venus loved him, she was actually married to Vulcan, but hey, you know what those gods/goddesses were like lol, saw something they wanted, they took it.
It's interesting to note though, that Adonis was a HUMAN and not a god. Maybe that's what she fell in love with and found so irresistable, his humanness  Wink

Thanks Suzi, and as usual it takes a while to see the real reasoning of signs i see sinks in, but (the light bulb) went of yesterday evening wen 2 gorgeous and enormous eagles made from cloud formation where the answer to the name Adonis and the reason for this unusual path and quest i have been on over the last few weeks. As u no looking up isn't  (never) my first instinct but hey you cant not do it wen your being told to so persistently.
As i said before the description of Adonis as the king of swords is down to a T and the eagle totem for the American native Indian is just what i need to confirm a few things that i have struggled with lately.Venus represents the woman's image of herself (the glyph is the hand held mirror) and in the man's chart it indicates the kind of woman he is attracted to.It is Venus, the goddess of love, who is the guide to the deepest layers of the unconscious, the collective mind or world soul. Adonis was an extremely handsome youth who died and was reborn !! Hmm, no coincidences but for me Adonis leaned more towards the king of swords..Wow what a spectacular and joyous revelation. Its all finally becoming clear what i have to do in situations like this one and (remember the issue i had with my room) the other day and its so simple..JUST ASK AND U SHALL RECEIVE..
