Hello Dear Angels and Lights in this world;
As we approach the end of year (at least according to the Julian Calendar), it always sparks thoughts of what has happened in the prior year. And this morning i was inspired to reflect not on how i am doing on paying my bills, how many dates i have had, how many students passed my math class, but on how much i have loved. Not how much love i have received, but that the measure of success is how much love have i passed on to others. To love is the greatest success. Did i pass love to the ants that toiled tirelessly in the summer months creating a magnificent subterranean house? did i pass love to the driver next to me on the highway who cut in front of me and then drive slow (arrrggghhhhh!!). Did i pass love to all that i encounter? Did i pass love to the tree that provided wonderful shade in the summer and fall colors of tremendous beauty? but most of all, did i love myself? Did i forgive myself? Did i display such an aura of love that others could not help but respond?
For my own self-reflection, the answer is yes and no. But that is part of growth. In this world we do not do everything perfectly every time. We are human and growth is learning from the no's and moving to more yes's. We can express love to our spouses, significant others, friends, children, pets, etc. I need to learn to express the same love to me.
So, for the next year (but really beginning today), i plan to try and reflect each day on how i have loved others (human or otherwise, they are all created by God). Measure my success each day by the love that has been passed from me to others and not on how much i have collected.
I love all the Angels and other spiritual souls that have put up with my ramblings this year and helped me grow immensely this year.
Love and Light,
Richard
